When asked about how different was it to write and produce a movie, he said that as a producer, it made him question his music. “For this particular movie, 99 Songs, I commissioned myself to write, produce and compose the music. As a producer, I questioned my compositions, like ‘is this sound good enough’, while my writer self questioned my composer and producer selves as well. So, it was like being part of a three-tier multi-management routine; I played all the parts. As I kept writing with my team, again and again, I felt like maybe I should find a balance between what is required to be filmed and what will eventually resonate with people.” Also Read – Kun Faaya Kun, Zinda Hoon Yaar, Arziyan: 6 songs that can relieve your stress in this pandemic

He went on to add, “What I like doing ends up being pretty difficult, but I think this movie has taught many things to me and my team. We’ve had a lot of time to fix the score and creatives, to make the film we’ve wanted to make.” Also Read – Masakali 2.0: Singer Mohit Chauhan expresses his disappointment; says, ‘permission must be taken from original creator’

Presented by Jio Studios and directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, 99 Songs will release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on 16th April, 2021.

At the trailer launch of the film, Rahman also introduced the debutant Ehan Bhat who is paired opposite American actress Edilsy Vargas. “Here’s presenting Ehan Bhat who comes from the land of Kashmir, a place of great beauty and cultural legacy. He learnt to play the piano at our conservatory for a year and is entering the world of cinema as a lead in 99 songs and I hope you love him as we do,” he had said.
