Facebook-owned online chat platform WhatsApp has launched a Covid-19 themed sticker pack. Called ‘Vaccines for All’, the sticker pack is now available for use in WhatsApp. As per the chat platform, the new stickers have been introduced to offer people “a fun and creative way to connect and privately express the joy, relief, and hope they feel about the possibilities the Covid-19 vaccines offer, and to show their appreciation for the healthcare heroes”.
Over the past few months, Covid-19 cases have been peaking, with over 1 lakh new cases reported in India alone. Various state governments have started imposing night curfews again in high-risk zones. WhatsApp claims that governments in many countries like Indonesia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, and India, are using its helplines to reach out to the citizens with “accurate vaccine information and registration”. It also says that it has waived the fees incurred by sending messages through the WhatsApp Business API.
In other news, WhatsApp users may finally get the flexibility to migrate chats between Android and iOS devices. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the website that tracks the upcoming changes and features to the Facebook-owned app, WhatsApp is soon going to roll out a feature that allows chat history migration between iOS and Android. The report claims that a future update for iOS and Android of the app will enable the possibility to migrate users’ chat history.
As of now, there is no expected date by which this feature will be rolled out, but it should be along with the support to use the same WhatsApp account across multiple devices, which the report claims may happen soon.
