Alia Bhatt was roped in for the film after Inshallah with Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt failed to take off due to script issues. Gangubai Kathiawadi resumed work last year after the lockdown was lifted in the second half of the year. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is very invested in the project and we have to see what magic he has created with Alia Bhatt.

It was a tough time for the makers as India went into lockdown. The sets made at Film City had to removed by the makers as they were paying heavy rent for the place. The monsoons would have ruined the facade. So, they removed the sets and made it once again. Alia Bhatt was in fact seen outside Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office today. The actress had to be admitted to a hospital after she collapsed on the sets in January 2021. She had resumed work after a family trip to the Ranthambhore National Park.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is also working on Heera Mandi. The filmmaker wants to sign on a number of known heroines that might come on Netflix. It seems he is also reuniting with Ismail Darbar for the coveted project. Alia Bhatt fans are waiting eagerly for Gangubai Kathiawadi. Her project Sadak 2 was a complete disaster.
