IPL 2020: CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad yet to test negative for Covid-19, still in quarantine | Cricket News – Times of India

CHENNAI: Chennai Super Kings middle-order batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s stay in the quarantine was prolonged as he is yet to test negative for Covid-19 even after 13-14 days. He hasn’t yet been allowed in the bubble in the team hotel.
Gaikwad, along with paceman Deepak Chahar, had tested positive for Covid-19. Chahar, who later tested negative for Covid-19, is now practising with the team.
The CSK management was hoping that Ruturaj also would be able to get back in the mix, but his latest Covid-19 test report came as a dampener.
However, CSK sources have indicated that Ruturaj is asymptomatic right from the beginning.
Ruturaj was initially seen as a replacement for Suresh Raina but because of these developments, the team management now has to think of other options. In all probability, Ambati Rayudu will bat at No. 3.
The CSK team has been practising in full steam for the last 10 days as they prepare to take on Mumbai Indians in their first match on September 19. “The rest of the team looks in good nick and we should be up for the challenge,” a source said.
Meanwhile, BCCI medical officer Nitin Patel, too, continues in stay in quarantine because he hasn’t tested negative yet.
