IPL 2021: Whopping 1097 Cricketers Register For 61 Slots in Mini-Auction

A whopping 1097 players will potentially go under the hammer in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2021 mini-auction. It is a staggering number considering it is the mini-auction and franchises will merely look to fill gaps. Out of the 1097 cricketer, 207 are capped players while 863 are uncapped and 27 are from Associate nations. Sreesanth – who is making a comeback to cricket – is placed in the capped players category. Fifty-six West Indies players will be up for grabs – the highest from any nation. They are followed by Australia. Forty-two cricketers from Australia will go under the hammer, while 38 South African players will have their fortunes at stake on February 18.

Some big names like Steve Smith and Kedar Jadhav will also go under the hammer after being released by their respective teams.

The fourteenth season of the IPL will take place in India and reports suggest it will start tentatively around April 11. Nothing on this is confirmed.

The auction process is scheduled to start at 3 PM.

It would be interesting to see if Chennai Super Kings show interest in Steve Smith or not. Speculations are that CSK would look at Smith as Shane Watson’s replacement.
