Kangana Ranaut claims Akshay Kumar and others secretly hailed Thalaivi; But they can’t openly praise because of ‘movie mafia terror’ | Bollywood Life



Kangana Ranaut is currently on cloud nine looking at the amazing response to her upcoming film Thalaivi, which is a biopic on late Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, Samantha Akkineni, Juhi Chawla among others had showered praise on Thalaivi. And it seems like even Akshay Kumar hailed Kangana for her powerful performance in Thalaivi trailer but had to do away with showing it off publicly, as claimed by Kangana in her latest tweets. As per Kangana, many people from the film fraternity including Akshay made secret calls to her and sent her congratulatory messages to praise Thalaivi trailer. But they couldn’t praise her openly just the way they laud movies of Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone. “Bollywood is so hostile that even to praise me can get people in trouble, I have got many secret calls and messages even from big stars like @akshaykumar they praised @Thalaivithefilm trailer to sky but unlike Alia and Deepika films they can’t openly praise it. In another tweet, Kangana wished the industry could be objective and wouldn’t bully, harass or isolate her for her political views and spirituality. “Wish an industry of art can be objective when it comes to art, and not indulge in power play and politics when it comes to cinema, my political views and spirituality should not make me a target of bullying, harassment and isolation but if they do, then obviously I will win,” she wrote.

Thalaivi tells the story of late former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa, and traces her life from her rise in the world of films as an actress to becoming a powerful politician who would ultimately rule the state. The tringual film will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on April 23. The film also features Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree in key roles.
