Yesterday, the world of TV was rocked by reports of Karan Mehra being accused of domestic violence by his wife, Nisha Rawal. He is known as Naitik Singhania from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She said that he had beaten her up badly and she got stitches on her head. Karan Mehra said that the wounds were self-afflicted. He said that his wife has bipolar disorder with strong streaks of violence. In her press conference, Nisha Rawal admitted that she was indeed diagnosed as bipolar but is definitely not a ‘psycho’ as she is being made out to be.
She said that she is not ashamed to admit that she has mood disorders. Nisha Rawal also said that she has been working throughout, which proves her stable functioning. She said, “Bipolar is a mood disorder which happens due to extreme trauma and it’s genetic sometimes. I was diagnosed with bipolarity and I am not going to lie about it as I am not ashamed about it.”
Post that, she revealed that she had a miscarriage in 2014, and Karan Mehra did not give her any emotional support. She says she could not speak to anyone about her loss. Nisha Rawal reveals that he was physically abusive even then. The actress says that Karan Mehra stopped her from seeking professional help from a therapist nor did he let her go to the gym. She told the press, “I wanted to go to my parents and talk to them because it was a very big trauma for me. In the middle of it my husband was beating me up, abusing me, he was unavailable, totally detached and that’s when I went to a therapist. In fact, Karan had stopped me from going to a therapist, he didn’t let me go to a gym, he was very controlling in everything.”
