Parliament Live News Updates: Parliament LIVE: AAP MP Sanjay Singh today said the farmers protesting at the borders were being lathi-charged, called traitors, terrorists, Khalistanis. “Talks happened 11 times, all failed, government claims to be a call away, but doesn’t bother. About 165 farmers lost their lives. Have mercy and repeal 3 black laws,” the AAP MP said while speaking in Rajya Sabha.
JD(S) Supremo HD Devegowda today said that he condemned the actions of certain miscreants on Republic Day, but farmers were not responsible for it. “They should not be punished. Centre’s decision to put concrete walls at protest site won’t help. Government must end the matter peacefully,” he said in Rajya Sabha. He also said that farm matter was a state subject, it’s in concurrent list. “State government’s opinion also has to be taken,” Devegowda said.
Congress MP Manish Tewari has given an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha over the farm laws. The issue of farmers’ protests dominated the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Speaking in Rajya Sabha, MP Swapan Dasgupta defended the three farm laws saying it will bring investments in a whole range of areas. He said reforms are needed for the growth of the agriculture sector. Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy today introduced Bill in Rajya Sabha to replace Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021 (J&K Cadre merger with AGMUT). Besides this, Congress MP Chhaya Verma and Samajwadi Party MP Vishambhar Prasad have given short duration discussion notice in Rajya Sabha, “over rising unemployment in the country”.
