In static stretching, you have to stretch a muscle group by holding a pose for an extended period and do not have to move the entire body. This kind of stretching does not help you to contract or engage your muscles. Instead, it relaxes them and so is considered a type of passive stretching. Shoulder stretch, side bends and lat pulls are some examples of static stretching.
Dynamic stretching, on the other hand, is an active form of stretching where you have to move continuously. It is a whole-body movement and requires more coordination. Bird dogs, walking lunges, walking high knees are some examples of dynamic stretching.
